(Global Data Metaverse Market Analysis)
The Metaverse is a shared virtual space, where people can interact with each other and with virtual objects and experiences in real-time.
In the Metaverse users can create and customize avatars to represent themselves and interact with others through voice or text chat. They can also participate in a variety of activities, such as playing games, attending virtual events, or exploring virtual environments.
It is a virtual reality (VR) world that is accessed through the internet, smartphones and headsets but it can also be accessed through other platforms such as augmented reality (AR) or mixed reality (MR).
Virtual reality (VR) is a simulated experience using a headset that can be similar to or completely different from the real world. The headset displays images and sounds that the user perceives as being part of the Metaverse environment. The headset also includes sensors that track the user's movements, allowing interactions with the virtual environment in a natural way.
Augmented reality (AR) uses computer technology to superimposes digital information or images on the real world. It is often used to enhance or augment a person's perception of the environment around them. Usually done through a smartphone or tablet that displays the augmented content through the device's camera.
Mixed reality (MR) is composed of a range of technologies that allow users to interact with virtual objects and environments in the real world. Similar to AR and VR, in Mixed Reality the virtual objects and environments are anchored to the real world, meaning that they are aware of and react to the physical world around them.
An avatar is a digital representation of a person or a character. In video games, an avatar represents the player's character and can be customized with different appearances, clothing, and other features. In VR, represents the user's body and movements in the virtual world. On social networking platforms, an avatar is typically a profile picture.
In the Metaverse people can communicate, socialize, work, play, attend concerts and lectures and explore virtual worlds. It can be used for entertainment, education, training, and therapy.
There will be a dark side to the Metaverse eventually just as there is for the Internet, smart phones and other technologies. Bullying, harassment, stalking etc. will all be there.
